Newcastle Fringe Festival
It’s edgy, diverse, inspirational and super creative and it’s the biggest little fringe in Australia.
In a city that boasts a vibrant cultural heritage, the Newcastle Fringe Festival has been running since 2016 and showcases a smorgasbord of performing arts from Newcastle, Australia and the world, over 2 amazing weekends across several venues in March each year. Newcastle Fringe welcomes artists from the Hunter, Australia and the world in an effort to give audiences a greater diversity in entertainment and shine a spotlight on our wonderful city of Newcastle.
A member of the global alliance of fringe festivals, World Fringe, the festival has grown to be one of the premier cultural events of the city. A fringe festival is by nature open access and provides emerging artists with a launching pad for original work and critical experience. We aim for art for its own sake.
The Fringe is committed to bringing as much variety in entertainment options as possible to cater for all interests – Comedy, Theatre, Children’s Theatre, Music, Dance, Cabaret, Burlesque, Spoken Word, Performance Art and Circus.
There is something for everyone.
Newcastle Fringe is committed to making the festival as economically viable for our artists as possible, our vision is to continue to present the biggest little fringe festival in Australia.
