Borodin and Shostakovich
Acacia Quartet delighted Newcastle audiences in the first Newcastle Music Festival in 2016, and make a welcome return for the fifth festival, playing Borodin’s string quartet No. 2, and Shostakovich string quartet No. 8, for which Shostakovich wrote a dedication “In remembrance of the victims of fascism and war.” This concert also features a work by young Australian composer Jessica Wells "Dancing in St Petersburg".
