Join us in making Newcastle accessible for all

Did you know that 18% of Australians (or 4.4 million people), have a disability?* Accessible tourism ensures everyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy the same tourism destinations, products, services and experiences. From accommodation to cafes, accessibility is our business.

City of Newcastle, in consultation with the local visitor economy sector, has engaged the services of The Visitor Inclusion Group and is developing a best practice framework to better understand the requirements of visitors with a disability.

The project will consider visitors with a broad range of access needs, including mobility and vision, as well as sensory, intellectual, and neurological disabilities.

City of Newcastle is now inviting visitor economy businesses to participate in a free, explorative process to identify opportunities and gaps to promote the highest level of accessibility.

We invite you to submit an Expression of Interest to participate via the form below.

Together, let's commit to making our city an accessible and inclusive destination for all.

Key dates:

  • Expression of interest open: 8 July 2024
  • Expression of interest close: 22 July 2024
  • Venue site visits will be conducted from late July onwards
