Hosted by Eddy Rockefeller, Rogue Scholar's Open Mic Night welcomes musicians and performance artists, and is all about connecting creatives. First-timers and regulars welcome from 8pm to 11:45pm.
The Rogue Scholar is an English-style Brewpub known for nightly live music and spectacular craft beers. This Newcastle institution is open Thurs to Sunday.
Every Tuesday - 218 King Street, Newcastle
David Macmichael AKA @davidplaysthehits hosts Foghorn's Homebrew Open Mic Night. Musicians can register from 6pm and the stage kicks off from 6:30pm. $20 pizzas are available too!
Foghorn Brewery is in a huge, converted art deco warehouse and pours big and bold craft beers and ciders, and serves pub feeds to match.
Every Thursday - 32 Church Street, Newcastle
Thursday Jazz Jam Sessions. Doors open from 7:30pm. The jam kicks off at 8pm. Local house bands take the stage and welcome experienced and upcoming musicians to join in the jam. Entry is $10. Musicians are free to jam.
The Underground is a speakeasy-style jazz and live music venue downstairs from The Grand Hotel, which has an impressive (and delicious) bistro menu.
Third Thursday of the month - 462 Hunter Street, Newcastle
Cosy up in this quaint and eclectic bookshop and café from 6:30pm for their monthly open mic music night. It's an intimate space with a relaxed and inviting vibe. A particular favourite of duos and solo artists.
