PLAYGROUND
A group exhibition featuring artists Lucas Abela, Kalanjay Dhir, Oliver Harlan and newly commissioned works by Billy Bain, Tiyan Baker, Ej Son and Meng-Yu Yan.
Google recommends that great health benefits can be brought about by laughter. It can alleviate tension; it is able to reduce stress, stimulate vital organs, improve the immune system, and alleviate pain. A good gag also works to disarm audiences. By easing us in, humour allows us to face the illogicality of the world, confronting issues and ideas that are often hard to swallow.
The Lock-Up’s spaces, historically considered a place of restraint, are breaking out in the Spring exhibition PLAYGROUND.
Through laughter, fun and play, audiences will be invited to find respite and acknowledge the absurdity of the world.
The exhibition features artists Lucas Abela, Kalanjay Dhir, Oliver Harlan and newly commissioned works by Billy Bain, Tiyan Baker, EJ Son and Meng-Yu Yan. Curated by Holly Farrell.
