From invasive weeds to endangered wildlife their guest speakers are talking conservation for National Science Week.

"Keeping the bells tolling, conservation management of the bell frog population of Kooragang Island" - Dr John Gould (UON)

On the Hunter river's Kooragang Island is a stable population of the endangered green and golden bell frog.  Dr John Gould, research scientist from the University of Newcastle, will discuss the research project and conservation management focused on conserving this endangered amphibian.

"Wetlands weed workshop‍"- Geoff Nicholls (HWCA)

Weeds and other invasive species undermine the success of conservation projects by competing with native plants and disrupting the ecological balance. Horticulturalist and Hunter Wetlands Centre bush regeneration team leader, Geoff Nicholls, will be presenting this weed workshop. You will learn about the common weeds found in the hunter estuary, how to distinguish them from native species, the issues they can cause if left unmanaged and how to effectively remove and dispose of them.

Morning tea will be served and there will be an optional guided walk of the grounds.
