Commonwealth Hotel
Built in 1882, the Commonwealth Hotel is a Cooks Hill and Newcastle institution!
First called the Cosmopolitan Hotel, the hotel’s name was changed to the Commonwealth Hotel in 1901 to celebrate Australia’s federation. Locals past and present affectionately know the hotel as simply 'the Commy.'
Centrally located in the cultural heart of Newcastle and offering ten pub style accommodation rooms, some with shared bathroom facilities and others with private en-suites, the Commonwealth Hotel is the perfect place tourists and overnight guests. Each room has its own air-conditioner and flat screen television.
Downstairs enjoy all that this traditional pub has to offer, including the award wining restaurant and beer garden, sports bar and full TAB facilities.
