Newcastle Food Month returns to transform the city into a vibrant gastronomic playground, offering an entire month dedicated to exceptional local food, wine and culinary experiences.

Held across April, this much‑loved festival showcases the region’s thriving hospitality scene through signature and featured events + over 70 plate dates, giving visitors and locals endless ways to taste their way through the city.

From long lunches and chef‑led dinners to pop‑ups, masterclasses and seasonal experiences, every corner of Newcastle comes alive with flavour.

Here is a taste of what you can experience:

Signature Events

Signature Events sit at the heart of Newcastle Food Month. Bold, one-off experiences that bring celebrated chefs and big ideas to the table. They’re designed to surprise, delight, and spoil you a little.

Expect ambitious menus, standout locations and collaborations you won’t see anywhere else. From long lunches and late nights to conversations built around flavour.

Feature Events

Over 70 Feature Events are hitting the city this year, from intimate chef dinners to tasting sessions with local producers, masterclasses, and everything in between.

It’s your chance to meet the people behind the plates, discover the region’s best flavours, and celebrate the Hunter’s vibrant food scene. Some events support great causes, others are pure fun, but all are designed to bring good people together over even better food and drink.

Plate Dates

The city’s best restaurants, cafés and pubs are serving up exclusive Plate Dates: a signature dish paired with a drink for $25-30. Just an easy way to eat well, often, and all month long.

With more than 70 Plate Dates across the city, this is your chance to revisit favourites, try somewhere new, or finally book that place you’ve been meaning to get to, without committing to a long lunch or a long bill.
