A Street of Pubs of the Past - Newcastle Heritage Tour
As part of the Australian Heritage Festival, join Hunter historian Ed Tonks for a tour along Hunter Street, Newcastle, once the site of many hotels, most now gone forever.
Ed will lead a walking history stroll along Newcastle's main thoroughfare, Hunter Street, once the site of 55 hotels and nearly all lost to time.
The local hotel was an important part of the community and tell the story of a community's character.
Ed will talk about the histories and fascinating stories of the long street, an almost forgotten part of Newcastle's rich history: long-gone buildings, publicans and licensees.
Please note: This tour involves street walking with some uneven pathways. Sensible walking shoes, hat and water recommended.
